... and it was actually pretty solid! The sport mode on the CVT actually holds the revs really well, I’m shocked. I test drove the previous generation and while it was a solid car, the interior left something to be desired and was a little noisy in the NVH department.

The new one feels really good; slap it into sport mode and you have 7 ratios to play with on the paddle shifters; much more fun than I thought it would be and I didn’t find it droney at all. I had written off the CVT in search of a manual; but this might have potential.

Did the CVT bug you in that FIT? I was in a rental Murano with the CVT today and I was swearing at it - nothing, nothing, nothing, launch!, nothing, nothing, nothing, launch! It’s the worst set up transmission in a relatively new car I have ever driven.

No, well, I did keep it in S(sport) instead of D(rive), which kept the revs at about 3000 most of the time until it revved it out to 6800. I was pretty impressed. I did stick it back into Drive near the end of my test drive and it got notably quieter and seemed to go about its business.

My wife’s Subaru Forester has a CVT as well and it is great; not laggy as you mentioned. It basically does exactly what you tell it with the pedal, keeping the car in the powerband and generally just making it really easy to drive.
